- Can the Bambu Lab A1 print ABS?
- Not reliably. The A1 is an open-frame printer with no enclosure, so ABS prints suffer from rapid cooling, warping, and layer separation. The aggressive bed-slinger motion also makes it harder for warping parts to stay adhered. If you need ABS, get the P1S or X1C.
- Does the AMS Lite work with all filaments?
- No. The AMS Lite can handle PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, and other rigid filaments. It cannot handle TPU or other flexible materials — those must be fed directly through the external spool holder. The AMS Lite is also not sealed, so it is not a dry box.
- What is the maximum print speed for PLA on the A1?
- The A1 is rated for up to 500 mm/s, but real-world PLA speeds of 200–300 mm/s produce the best quality-to-speed balance. At maximum speed, you may see reduced surface quality on overhangs and fine details.
- Can I print carbon fiber filaments on the A1?
- PLA-CF works with a hardened steel nozzle upgrade. The A1 ships with a stainless steel nozzle, which will wear quickly with abrasive materials. Swap to a hardened steel 0.4 mm or 0.6 mm nozzle for filled filaments. The AMS Lite can handle PLA-CF with fine particles.
