PETG sits between PLA and ABS: it is stronger and more impact-resistant than PLA, far less prone to warping or UV degradation, and prints more easily than ABS with no enclosure or strong fumes. The spools below are the cheapest PETG options under $20 we currently track on Amazon, ranked by price rather than commission. Because PETG is sold in smaller and partial-kg spools more often than PLA, check the listed spool weight before comparing prices.

PETG is tougher, more flexible, and far more resistant to heat, UV light, and moisture than PLA, making it better for outdoor parts, mechanical components, and anything that gets left in a hot car. The tradeoff is it prints slightly hotter and is more prone to stringing if settings are not tuned.
Most PETG prints well at 230-250C nozzle temperature, 70-85C bed temperature, and print speeds around 40-60mm/s. Retraction settings usually need to be tuned down compared to PLA to avoid stringing, and a small cooling fan helps with bridging and overhangs.
Yes. For context, 1kg PETG spools from established brands usually run $20-30, so a sub-$20 spool, especially a full 1kg, represents a real discount. Just confirm the weight, since some budget PETG is sold in 500g-750g spools at a lower headline price.
Stringing with PETG is almost always a combination of nozzle temperature being too high and retraction being too low. Try dropping the nozzle temperature 5-10C and increasing retraction distance slightly; PETG is more sensitive to these settings than PLA.
PETG typically prints best around 230-250C at the nozzle and 70-85C on the bed, with slightly slower speeds than PLA to reduce stringing. It is a strong choice for functional parts, outdoor brackets, phone mounts, and anything that needs to survive heat or sunlight. If you are new to PETG, a well-known brand is worth the extra dollar or two: bargain PETG tends to have more moisture-absorption and consistency issues than bargain PLA.
